Electric or hybrid? A used buyer’s guide
Battery health, charging, running costs and what to ask before you buy a used electrified vehicle.

Used hybrids and EVs are some of the best-value vehicles on the market right now. They also come with a few different questions.
Hybrid: the easy step
A hybrid needs no charging and uses less fuel in the city. It is the simplest way to cut running costs without changing your routine.
Electric: the big saving
An EV has fewer moving parts and no oil changes. If you can charge at home, the cost per kilometre is a fraction of petrol.
What to ask about the battery
- Ask for a battery health report, not just a verbal assurance
- Check the remaining battery warranty and its kilometre limit
- Look at fast-charging history if it is available
Charging at home
A standard outlet works for short commutes. A 240V level 2 charger is worth the install if you drive daily.
Which one for you?
Short trips and home charging suit an EV. Long highway drives and no home charger make a hybrid the easier choice. Our team can match you with the right vehicle on the lot.
